Penang National Park

PENANG NATIONAL PARK, PENANG

Malaysia’s smallest national park featuring pristine rainforest, coastal trails, and rare wildlife habitats

Overview

Penang National Park is one of the most unique protected areas in Malaysia, located at the northwestern tip of Penang Island. Despite being the smallest national park in the country, it is home to an extraordinary range of ecosystems including rainforest, mangroves, wetlands, and coastal beaches.

Established in 2003, the park protects over 1,000 hectares of natural habitat and serves as a sanctuary for wildlife such as dusky leaf monkeys, macaques, hornbills, monitor lizards, and sea turtles.

Visitors can explore well-marked jungle trails that lead to scenic beaches, lighthouse viewpoints, and hidden coves. The park is also famous for its canopy walkway and boat-accessible beaches like Monkey Beach and Kerachut Beach.

Penang National Park is a popular destination for hiking, nature photography, and eco-tourism experiences away from the busy city life of George Town.
