Blue Temple Wat Rong Suea Ten

BLUE TEMPLE (WAT RONG SUEA TEN), CHIANG RAI

A dazzling modern Buddhist temple renowned for its vivid sapphire-blue architecture, intricate artwork, and magnificent white Buddha image

Overview

Wat Rong Suea Ten, commonly known as the Blue Temple, is one of Chiang Rai's most striking and photogenic landmarks. Distinguished by its brilliant blue exterior accented with gold details, the temple offers a unique blend of traditional Buddhist symbolism and contemporary Thai artistry.

Completed in 2016, the temple was designed by local artist Putha Kabkaew, a student of Chalermchai Kositpipat, the creator of the famous White Temple. The result is a visually stunning masterpiece that has quickly become one of Northern Thailand's must-visit attractions.

The temple's name translates to "Temple of the Dancing Tiger", referring to legends that tigers once roamed the area along the Kok River. Today, visitors come to admire its vibrant architecture, spiritual atmosphere, and remarkable artistic details.
