Overview
Niah Caves is a world-renowned archaeological and natural heritage site located
in northern Sarawak, within Niah National Park.
The caves are famous for the discovery of the “Deep Skull”, one of the oldest
modern human remains in Southeast Asia, dating back more than 40,000 years.
The site features vast limestone cave systems, prehistoric rock paintings, and evidence of
early human settlement, making it one of Malaysia’s most significant heritage destinations.
Today, visitors explore boardwalks, rainforest trails, and massive cave chambers while learning
about early human history and natural biodiversity.
