EAGLE SQUARE (DATARAN LANG), LANGKAWI

The iconic waterfront landmark featuring Langkawi's famous giant eagle statue

Overview

Eagle Square, locally known as Dataran Lang, is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Langkawi and serves as a symbolic gateway to the island. The attraction is famous for its massive reddish-brown eagle statue standing proudly along the waterfront.

The eagle represents the origin of Langkawi's name, which is believed to be derived from the Malay word "Helang" (eagle) and "Kawi" (reddish-brown). The statue stands approximately 12 metres tall and has become one of the most photographed landmarks in Malaysia.

Located near Kuah Town and the ferry terminal, Eagle Square offers visitors beautiful sea views, landscaped gardens, fountains, and scenic walkways overlooking the Andaman Sea.

Both day and night visits are popular, with sunset providing some of the best opportunities for photography and sightseeing.
